   These are worth the extra cost. The window lights are made of real glass and the caps are coated metal. The remainder of the product is made of plastic. The downward lights are nice and they light up the floor of the deck enough to see where you are walking. The top light provides just the right amount of light, not too weak and not too strong. These do not feel cheap and the metal cap makes them feel sturdier than the all plastic ones. They are not cheap overseas junk and are well made in CanadaThe customer service line is included in the instruction sheet. The light mechanism appears to be replaceable if the lights go bad by simple taking the light mechanism out and putting in new parts. It has a good design and does not look cheap. Installation can be done from the side but I chose to drill new holes in the bottom of the inside (had to disassemble to add holes) and attached them with Deckmate screws directly into the 4″x4″ posts under the Timbertech post sleeves. There are 4 post adapters and one of them does perfectly fit the Timbertech Evolutions Rail post covers (nearly impossible to find).

   These cap lights are bright & last many hours into the night when exposed to full sunlight—sometimes right thru till first light! Even 3-6 hrs on overcast days. And unlike any other solar cap light I’ve used, the light is functional and not just for show. Because of the 360 degree downlighting, these are unique in their ability to illuminate steps, gated entryways and the like for hours after dusk.

   I bought these to replace previous solar lanterns that came with the house. They sit on posts at my front porch steps. The porch faces north, so they don’t get a lot of direct sunlight. Nevertheless, they pick up enough of a charge to last a few hours after sunset. The top section is aluminum and seems very sturdy. The other day I was cleaning and accidentally blasted one of them with the hose. I was afraid I might have caused damage, but that night they turned on as usual. I would definitely recommend these, especially over most of the cheap plastic ones that are everywhere on npcpsolar.com.

   This light looks really nice. However, be careful tightening the screws that hold it in place. I cracked the plastic tabs that you screw into right out of the gate. Now there is no way to secure it to the post.

   So the ad claims cast aluminum construction and even in specs it says made of aluminum and glass. But in fact the only thing aluminum is the cap, from the cap down is all plastic so in several years will be garbage I’m sure.

   They also claim 20lumins and it has 5 bulbs, one inside and 4 shining down. So really I’m sure the main is 4lms just like everyone else’s lights. They are not overly bright.

   I have it 3 stars because they look ok and work.

   $$$ to value ratio not really any better then others.

    These are beautiful solar light fixtures, but very disappointing in their performance. Even after a full day of sunshine (lights are mounted in full sun all day), lamps only stays lit for about two hours before going black. Since these lamps were intended to help us in backing out of a long, dark driveway, it’s very disappointing that they stay lit for such a short time.

    These post cap lights are absolutely beautiful but they only stay lit for around 2 hours after dark. I have smaller, cheaper lights in between these lights and they stay lit at least 5 hours, sometimes longer. Customer service suggested changing the batteries in these brand new lights but did not offer to replace them at no charge. The replacement batteries are over $14 dollars. Very disappointed.
