My 25 year old deck is totally made of wood, and it needs to be replaced this year. When we are rebuilding our deck I will be taking some steps to make it look more attractive and be easier to maintain for longer life. Placing aluminum caps on top of the 4×4 wooden end posts of railing sections will be one of those improvements. Not only does it look nicer, but it also helps protect those critical posts from water damage. Using these Solar Post Lights will also provide some extra night light safety as well as a very dramatic visual improvement.
I will likely only need 5 to 6 have this 8 pack of solar post cap lights for the actual deck and the stair extension we plan to add. The extras will be kept and used as replacement parts if needed in the future. I currently use a number of solar motion activated lights that turn on at night as you walk along the path around my house. I have found that they usually last for years, and they have been very reliable and easy to repair or maintain when needed.
As others have noted, these post cap lights are easy to install, and also to take apart if they need some maintenance.
