   The lights were well packaged and arrived in perfect condition. While the stake points and vertical tubes are made from metal the actual light assemblies are plastic. The aesthetics are simple, they blend in and remain mostly unnoticed unless on. Assembly and setup is easy, I’ll admit to not reading the instructions. The metal tubes plug into the light and stake points, just press with a little force. There are two settings for the lights, both are done with switches (covered in a rubber boot to protect from water) that move to labeled values. The first switch selects from three light temperatures. The other switch chooses the radio channel, which makes linking a one step process. Any lights on the same channel will be linked (that’s it, extremely simple). After setup, press the lights into the ground where-ever you want. Like assembly this requires no tools just a little force. Be sure to remove the protective film from the solar panels to produce maximum charge. Once it is dark, the lamps will all continuously emit a low light. The motion sensors pick up movement from around ten feet out. When one light senses movement, all of the lights on the same channel increase the amount of light emitted to light up the entire path.

   We have a lot of oak trees in our yard, which makes using solar lights tricky in many areas due to the shade. Our second entrance to the backyard is particularly dim, so we needed pathway lights that aren’t solar-powered. We didn’t want lights that stay on all night, so motion-activated ones were ideal. These lights fit the bill perfectly. They work well, providing a lit path without constantly using power. Installation was straightforward, and they’ve been reliable so far. If you’re looking for non-solar, motion-activated pathway lights, these are a solid choice. They work so well, we opted to purchase additional sets for the other entrance to our backyard.

   First the pros. You have 3 light settings (I chose the lowest), and you can program to specific channels so that they sync. This is important as the lights get brighter as they sense motion within 16 feet of the lamp. I have them all on the same channel so when I went to test it out, they all got brighter at the same time. So I imagine that if you set 2 for channel 1 and 2 for channel 3, they would get brighter when each set is triggered, which would be nice if you have a few sets (like up a long driveway or walkway). I like that you can choose the brightness in the inactivate setting. Negatives: You can’t adjust the brightness of the motion triggered setting. I have them around my front door, which is very close to our sidewalk so I’m sure they will have motion sensors triggered all the time by people walking by. I’m a little concerned about the sturdiness of the product. It’s a hollow metal connection tube between the ground spike and the lamp. There’s only about 1 inch of overlap between each piece connection. Given how light the tube is, how heavy the lamp is and how deep the spike goes, I’m a bit concerned about how these will hold up in the crazy weather that we experience here in the midwest. Time will tell there. It’s very loose between the tube and spike so I’m mostly concerned about the lamp taking flight in a wind/rain storm. Besides these few observations, I’m very happy with how the product operates and looks.
