   It must have direct sunlight for charging during the day. The light modes work well when the light did work. I would not recommend this light.

   I’m a graduate degreed engineer who appreciates well designed products and also the owner of a handyman service who’s installed hundreds of light fixtures, including many similar solar powered fixtures. This Yoolax fixture is built to much higher standards than the typical almost disposable all plastic solar fixture. The Yoolax fixture costs more than average, but the design and high build quality justify the cost. It installs just as easily as any of the similar solar light fixtures, which is to say it’s very easy with just two screws to install. I have this mounted on the house to light a dark walkway leading to our patio, which seems a perfect use for this type of light. The motion detection works flawlessly, but certainly doesn’t detect motion at the claimed 30+ feet. I have no way to measure it, but the claimed 600 lumens of light output seems about right to my eyeballs. Note that 600 lumens of light on a dark pathway is quite a lot of light.

   5 stars for build quality and operation, 3 stars for price, so a combined 4 stars from this reviewer.

   I believe this solar light to be good, but has some scratches on it. They’re made of plastic, which feels okay, and they’re designed for easy setup. It takes roughly 5 minutes to install by simply screwing it into the wall. Once set up, it’s powered by the sun and has a feature that makes it light up automatically upon detecting motion, which I find really convenient. I believe its worth mentioning there’s a scratch on the top right side of the solar panel and another on the base, something fairly inconvenient. When it comes to performance, the light is fairly strong, providing adequate illumination for its surroundings. Overall, I dislike it arrived with scratches, but I like its functional design and motion detection capability. I believe it’s a good investment.

   Apparently, the company YOOLAX is in CHINA and according to npcpsolar.com I had only 30 days to return. This garbage does not even deserve 1 star!
