I have been searching for big outdoor lights that flicker light actual flames… these are it!! Large lights that seem sturdy and well made. I’m buying more!! They look great around our pool!!!
I loved them nice and bright. The material is plastic but well made.. Easy to install they look amazing would definitely buy more the only thing why I didn’t give all 5 stars is because on windy days the do move a little (very little)
Turns on in the evening but turns off before 4AM, I guess it's ok. no other settings. I have it for 3 weeks so I can't tell much
Install is very simple. Mounting is simple. Use a 1/4 inch drill but for wood and a 1/2 inch hex but with a Ratchet or drill attachment. Let the solar panel sit all day in sun and mount where sun hits during day. Each light comes with a remote , but really 1 will then all. They need to make the diff “light functions” a little easier. I selected “radar” with “auto” to run off motion. It’s very sensitive and effective wich is awesome. But like the review he’s heading states brightness on a 1-10 is an “8” For the price I paid 73-75$ with 5% coupon applied. ITS WORTH THE $$$ paid. I’m big on security and proper lighting on property is a Deterrent in and of itself. Definitely worth the $$$ If you get on a sale price.
Nice design and soft light
UPDATE Seller was responsive to issue outlined below, and sent replacement lights. The adhesive tabs are the exact same ones that caused the initial problem, but at least now I know I need to substitute with my own stronger, more weatherproof adhesive than what comes with these lights. If you intend to place these anywhere that moisture will be a potential issue (after all, they ARE advertised to be "outdoor" lights, NOT "only where they will never get wet" lights...), I strongly suggest you do the same. As a result of the willingness of the seller to replace the lights affected by the situation, I've restored two stars for a total of four - better adhesive tabs would rate this product a bit higher, even though I've now also noticed the battery life isn't the greatest unless these units are placed in areas that receive 10+ hours of HIGH sun every day. (This is a common issue with solar-anything, so I cannot really blame the tech or the seller for this.) ORIGINAL REVIEW Had these up for a few rain-free days, and everything seemed just okay, although I certainly had my doubts. They didn't feel secure at all with the provided adhesive tabs. All it took was one brief rain shower to bring my doubts to reality, because every single one (16 lights in total) was down - I'm talking two 8-packs of lights, and not a single one was left stuck after the rain shower was over. What a complete waste of money. Why even provide adhesive tabs? There are many surfaces in which one cannot insert screws, so... Don't waste your money unless you intend to use screws to mount these: they won't stick, as my photos clearly indicate.
I have the two sets setup with the solar next to each other. One strand stays on for two hours longer than the other strand. I’d buy more to complete the wrap around my barn but just disappointed that one stays on so much longer than the other.
Lights look great. Bought 2 sets for my backyard. They have stayed on all night, checked on them before I left for work early in the morning and they were still going strong. I only have 2 issues with them, if you have any kind of other lighting around them like I do (string lights) they will not come on. I cut out circles from the box they came in and spray painted them black so I could cover the sensor on top so they would come on when I needed them to, just be sure to take them off when your done so the can charge the next day. The other issue, the steaks they come with are kind of short. Wanted a few to be a little taller. It was a easy fix though, just went down and bought some 3/4 inch pvc pipe, cut to the length I wanted, painted it black and mounted the lights to that to make it taller. Very happy with my purshase.
I have a bit of a solar landscape lighting addiction. I currently have 7 different types in my yard! From uplight spots to pathway lights to decorative lanterns, I'm all about a good solar light. These sleek, modern lights are replacing ones at the end of my driveway that conked out after 2 months. Hopefully these will last longer! I really like the clear glass (plastic) exposed-bulb look of these. They're more stylish than the typical frosted globe types. They really look much more expensive than they are. I only used a single extension pole for my installation, but they can be taller with the additional extensions. One of the biggest issues I run into with spike lights like these is flimsy plastic poles that crack on installation. These are plastic, but they seem a bit sturdier than most. And since there are extra poles I can replace them if needed. I recommend a rubber mallet to hammer them in, or a small block of wood to cushion the hammer blows. These came already charged up so I was able to enjoy them right away. Another issue I've run into with other lights is they're not properly weather-proofed, which is silly for outdoor lights! These seem better protected, and the on/off switch is housed inside a rubber cover to protect the electrical parts. I'll update the review if these end up falling apart, but so far these seem very good for the price.
These are great. I’m just finding that lately. They’ve changed their design and they seem to break faster than usual whether it’s from rain, or my irrigation system I don’t know, but I’ve bought these for many many years. Some of the older ones are still working great…. newer ones are not as good. Design is good, brightness is great, build quality is questionable.
These lights are good... but you absolutely, positively MUST replace the nuts (used to set the light's angle) with stainless steel nuts if you want to avoid having them rust within a few months. The nuts in mine (thankfully) hadn't rusted to the point of no return by the time I realized there was a problem... but I'm pretty sure they WOULD have been rusted and immobilized in another month or two. For the record, the nuts you need to buy (available from npcpsolar.com or local stores) are M4.7 (metric size) stainless steel. The photos show what the screw and nut on one of the lights looked like after just ~4 months in a South Florida lawn... during a relatively dry winter (albeit, with sprinklers running every other night). Rusty-nut problems aside, the lights are very nice. You can run them at their lowest brightness (which is still meaningfully bright) and get the charge to last all night & still have a bit left to run for a few hours the following night after a rainy or overcast day, and run them at their max brightness and have them be VERY bright. They can also dim and brighten in a "breathing" pattern. To illustrate the lights' brightness and spread, I shot photos of a white double garage door (f1.9, ISO 400, 1/10sec exposure) from 10 feet away, and a tree in the back yard (f1.9, ISO3200, 1/6sec). The tree's trunk was approximately 15 feet away, and the tree's top was approximately 25 feet away. Suffice to say, this light is bright, brighter, and VERY bright. I originally intended to only give it 3 stars due to the rusty nut problem, but decided to bump it back up to 4 due to its other redeeming qualities. So... I do recommend these lights... but you ABSOLUTELY MUST replace the nut with stainless steel, or it will UNQUESTIONABLY rust to the point of no return within a few months.
The lights are what I was looking for, a single strand to run along the bottom of the pool fence. Installation was difficult because the lights are wound around a single spool. Attempting to unroll and use them was both frustrating and laborious. I needed my wife’s help. It would have been easier had the spool been able to pass through the fence slats, however as this wasn’t an option we needed to unroll all 146’ which kept causing it to tangle and kink due to the spiraling effect of being wrapped around the spool. Also, there’s nothing in the instructions explaining what the 8 light modes are or regarding the remote which doesn’t seem to work. Other than that, once installed, I found a steady light mode so they do what I wanted them to.
Just received the Gefolly SL-5200W Solar Street Light, and first impressions are great. The build feels sturdy and well-made, and the solar panel looks like it can really capture and store a lot of sunlight. Although I haven’t installed it yet, I’m impressed with how it’s packaged and the overall quality right out of the box. It looks like it’ll be perfect for my yard and driveway, especially with the high lumens and motion sensor features. Can’t wait to set it up and see it in action — I’ll update once it’s running, but so far, it seems like a great purchase!
I got an 8 pack that have 12 led lights in each one. Instead of putting in ground I used the double sided tape I got from npcpsolar.com for holding my rugs in place which works great in keeping my 90lb dog from messing them up when running around, I placed them up high on the railing of my screened in patio and they light up beautifully and strong. I like them so much I just ordered another 8 pack!
These are beautiful solar lights. They're made of plastic but appear durable. I love the vintage looking color. They're bigger than most fence post lights. They come individually wrapped, making them a great gift idea.
