**UPDATE** I was contacted by customer service to inquire about the lanterns and what went wrong. I explained that these lanterns could not withstand the brutal temperatures of our region because plastic melts so easily. They refunded the entire purchase price of all three boxes of lamps, even though the return window had long passed. As a result, I am updating my star rating from 2 to 5. The lamps themselves rate a 2. They cannot withstand the summer heat but may work well in cooler climates. After all, they still did light even after melting. Customer service earns a 5 star rating. They stand behind their product even if it fails. They issued a full refund and cared about their customers. That means a great deal to me. ******** I purchased three sets of these solar lamps when my family planted new trees in the backyard this May. We live in Arizona, so we tend to have very hot summers with long stretches of daylight. I thought these lamps would look nice in the yard at night. On the plus side, they hold a charge well, the battery is functional, and the light is bright. The color is beautiful and they flicker like real flames in the evening. However, these are far from stable or a good value. By the time June rolled around and the weather hit stretches of 110+, the lamps began to bend and melt. As you can see, these solar lamps aren't built to last in the sun. The irony... It's a shame. They were pretty. Even though they still light up, they look absolutely ridiculous bent and sagging all over all over the yard. It's September now and we are pulling these all up tonight. Since none of the lamps lasted more than four months, I recommend purchasing something that can withstand long heat waves if you live in the Southwest.
I already had hardwired nightscaping, but wanted to add and thought these would do the trick and be easy to install. They are easy because they are solar. Just stick in the ground. However, finding an appropriate spot for them wasn't easy. My house is on a E/W line. The sun comes from the NE in the morning. Then behind the house in the SW in the afternoon. To place the solar array to face the morning sun meant the lights were limited where I could put them. Further out on my front lawn where they'd get sun all day, meant putting them in grass that needs weekly cutting. Instead putting them in dirt around ornamental trees on my lawn meant they'd be in shade from the tree. In addition to those issues, putting them back far to shine on the house diffused the light too much and blinded anyone exiting the house. The light from these is also white and not a warm yellow. For these reasons, I thought they would be better to be closer to the bushes by the house shining up into them. Then I realized this would me the solar arrays would be facing the wrong way and in the shade under the bushes. So, not there. Ultimately, the only place I could put them was shining up into ivy on my chimney. I already had hardwired lighting on sun. In the photo, the yellow warmer light on the bush to the right and on the sun is from the hardwired lights. These are accenting the ivy from below. Still, one of these had to be positioned so the solar array faces slightly away from the sun. Before going to sleep, I turn off my nightscaping. These stay on because they go until dawn or they run out of power. If you can't install hardwired, these are easy, but I prefer warmer light. Like most solar lights, these are too white light for my taste and limited where I could put them so that the solar array captured good sun. The second photo is just these after I turned the hardwired lights off.
I suspected these could fit a US 6x6 if I just added a small board beneath. See the photo, it seems to look OK. As long as you don't inspect these at close-range, they're great. At close-range, they're clearly not a high-end product. But, hey, you get what you pay for.
These lights are gorgeous!!! They lit up right away and they are the perfect level of brightness! I do not know what the battery life is as of now since I just installed them. Overall, they seem to be exceptional quality for the price! BUY THEM!
Multiple diodes per light set these apart from other post cap lights. They seem durable and also easy to install, very happy with them
I wrote a review for this light when I first got it. Wasn’t exactly what I hoped for but it has proven to be durable and dependable so far. First off …. The good stuff 1. the light is fairly well made. It has been in heavy rain and wind and no issues with functioning. 2. Battery life seems to last from dark til morning no problem. I have it set to operated at 30% power until it senses motion and then it’s at 100% until motion stops . 3. Installation was pretty straightforward as I mounted it on the side of my building at approximately 18ft high. At this height the motion sensor picks up movement at about a 35’ radius. 4. Weight is not bad at all. It has enough heft to it to feel solid but not overly heavy. 5. Was packaged very well. The not so great….. this is a much shorter list. 1. Not as bright as advertised. It’s not 6000watts….. not even 600watts! At highest power it is around 80-100 watts at best. I literally compared it side by side to equal wattage incandescent bulbs . So, my advice to the seller is to change the advertised wattage to be more accurate and they’d probably sell a lot more lights! After all it is a terrific light in my experience just not as bright as advertised. 2. The mounting hardware could be a bit more robust with heavier gauge metal. While it works ok …. I could see move a bit under high winds when mounted to my solid building. And perhaps make the extension pole a bit longer to get it far enough away from the building if you plan to mount it where overhang eaves or soffits might be. So, whereas I rated the product at 4 stars…. I would have given it 5 stars if power was advertised accurately and hardware was a bit more sturdy. All in all it is a good product and I will buy more of them as I do like it. I’ll just have to buy a few more to achieve my desired result. And for the price …. They are a great value even at the current output. So you can certainly afford to buy more than one! ( full disclosure….. seller reached out to me after my last review and truly wanted to help. They asked to send me another light to review in efforts to get a better rating so I agreed. While they were hoping for a 5 star review I can’t give that to them. But I do feel that with the extra mile they went to make me happy they do deserve a 4 star review. ) This is my honest evaluation of the product with all things considered. Unless something breaks or it stops working completely prematurely I’ll stand by my current evaluation.
We have a side entrance door that leads into the garage, next to which we keep our trash cans. We have a floodlight next to the door, but the neighbors didn't appreciate it as was excessive for the narrow space between our houses and be would shine through their upstairs bedroom window disturbing their sleep. Before I could replace it, the electric supply to the light stopped working. As opposed to getting into that repair, I opted for this solar light as a quick fix. It turned out to be a great choice. Install was super easy, and I was able to mount it above the entrance using a couple of included screws. It's barely noticeable during the day, but at night, when triggered, it easily illuminates the door, trash cans, and area between our house and the neighbor's, without the annoyance of disturbing them as the floods did. We don't get a lot of traffic on the side of the house, so I have it set to illuminate to the bright setting when motion is detected. This adds a good deal of security to the side door, and is convenient when taking out trash. It also has the option of being set to being always on the lower setting from dusk-to-dawn, or dusk-to-dawn with the brightness increasing to the high setting when there is motion. Changing the settings simply takes the push of a button, and small indicating lights on the face will show which function is currently selected. Very happy with this light and have had no problems whatsoever. Great product.
Reasonable price Small cute lantern Quality is ok Light is very weak
I first ordered these in June of 2020. I was tired of the outdoor torches that you had to refill. They were messy and only lasted as long as the refillable fuel allowed (not to mention the cause for concern with little ones around). I saw these TomCare solar torches on npcpsolar.com and decided to try them. BEST lawn and garden purchase I EVER made BY FAR! I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them and can't say enough about them. They are realistic looking, require no maintenance, and they are still as beautiful as ever 2 years later. I realize many people put their outdoor décor and furniture up for the winter, but these solar torches have been out in the elements since I first put them in our yard. They have been through hot summers and snowy winters in Kentucky and not one of them has dimmed or given out. Just be sure each torch has sufficient sun exposure to recharge each day. These still go strong even in winter months! (I've included a pic of them on a snowy evening.) When they come to you from npcpsolar.com, it only takes a matter of minutes to get them in your yard. All you have to do is snap the pole sections together for the desired height and stake them in the ground (all pieces included in purchase). If I had to make one suggestion to the company, it would be to maybe add one extra section of the pole so the buyer can have more versatility with the desired length, but what is included is sufficient. You will not be disappointed with these torches! They add so much beauty to your outdoor space during the evening. Since my first order in 2020, I have purchased 5 more torch sets and a set of the TomCare lanterns. We bought the additional sets to place in the yards of our Airbnb rentals and as perfect gifts for friends and family. (see purchase history pic) I got on npcpsolar.com today to order 2 more sets for birthday gifts to send to two very dear friends, and I am so excited to share with them the incredible lighting these will bring to their outdoor space as the sun goes down.
They look nice and operate as expected. My big issue with these lanterns is that the latch mechanism that locks the upper section to the lower section is completely worthless. The other side of the latch are hinges which allows you to open and have access to the inside of the lantern. I don’t even why I would need to access the inside. If you try to hang it the latch does not stay closed. Ended up using thin copper wire to hold it closed.
This unit is BRIGHT! This thing is a vast improvement ... much wider and more consistent coverage area, great range on the motion sensor.No-brainer to install, works great, shines bright, motion detection is very good, These lights were originally installed in the soffit on the corners of the porch to illuminate the front and sides of the yard. I can see every inch of my yard. The motion sensors work well, I'm impressed with how bright the LEDs are. I am able to see the dogs very good at night. I also like the setting dusk to dawn. You are able to set it to stay on at all times just at a dimmer light u too it detects motion then it gets super bright again. Just what I needed, and with remote control, Perfectly!
Originally I bought solar power lights from Home Depot…. Garbage. They didn’t last more than 5 hrs through the night. I saw these on npcpsolar.com and was hesitant but I could always return it right? lol When I tell you these are amazing … they are AMAZING. They have literally been on the entire night all the way until the sun is up. I literally can’t believe it. They are so easy to set up and install. I didn’t use the extender as I wanted them closer to the ground. The sides are more light plastic so not sure how they will hold up through the weather elements but so far so good. Also like the design. My neighbors have lawn lights and they look like grandma country bumpkin. I wanted something modern and sleek and these were it!
I received these lights in the early evening. I got them into the sun to see if I could get enough of a charge to try them out when it got dark. I got maybe an hour of charging by the time the sun went down. I wasn't sure I would be able to take a video until I got them a full day of charging. But they were putting out a lot of light in my backyard, which was pitch black. I encourage you to view the video I filmed so you can see how the lights looked in my backyard. ( I had the lights set on low during the video because I didn’t realize it had low medium and high settings. These lights are very much brighter on high.) On the night I filmed, the lights came on at dusk. I woke up at 5:30 in the morning, and I checked my cameras to see if the lights were still on. They were still on; they were still as bright. On another video clip from my outdoor camera later in the morning when it was getting light out, the lights were still on, but were very dim by then. This was amazing to me. I included a picture from my outdoor camera of those lights being dim when it was getting light out. I had rearranged the lights after I took the video, so three of them were by my storage bins. All I can hope for is for the lights to stay on until it gets light out, so I’m 100% happy. These solar lights were a great value for me. They were easy to set up and use. I got these lights so my security cameras could have light. One camera is inside a window, so I can't use the infrared lights. I love how much range the solar panels have. I really needed lights that could have the solar panel facing the other direction of the lights. After much use and different arrangements, I now have these mounted on my fence. I am very happy with them on my fence and am considering getting 4 more.
They are great for my backyard. I stuck them up in my fence and now I can see in my backyard at night. They get brighter as you come close to them.
Love these solar powered garden lights. Great quality, easy to assemble, and have long lasting battery life. I’ve used these at our previous home; new owners enjoying them now. Could not resist buying for our new home. Neighbors always complimenting!
