I’ve been wondering about getting some solar deck lights, both for atmosphere and safety. these INCX solar lights popped up on my list of npcpsolar.com Vine items. I assume that, by now, you know what that means. If not, just click the link above my review. I was pretty excited to get them. I’ll tell you about that except, for me, there is an amusing “but”. You’ll have to wait until the end of this 5 star review to learn about it. The lights shipped quickly in a surprisingly compact box. Unpacking them, I saw that they also came with appropriately sized screws to attach them to whatever you want to put them on - deck railings, steps, etc. Well, not knowing whether I’d like them, I cleverly (?) decided to use “nano tape” to attach two of the four to our deck railings without poking holes in order to "easily" remove them, and just set the other two on a couple of the steps leading up to the deck. I put them out on a blissfully sunny day, figuring that they should get a pretty good charge, and I’d get to see how they did by that night. Came dark, I looked out and . . . snake eyes! What the heck? Should it take several days to build up enough charge to work at night? Pretty disappointing, right? So I waited another day - not as sunny, but pretty bright. That night? Same thing! Well, I really hate writing bad reviews, but I pledged to write an honest review. Having earned my Eagle Scout badge some 60 years ago - yeah, I’m that old - I’m unwilling to do anything other than being honest here, or anywhere. That award is still meaningful to me, all these years later. But, before doing so, I decided to look at the directions. Remember the admonition, from years ago, to RTFM - AKA- read the *friendly* manual? Of course, I always felt, implied in that was, “only if you have no other alternative.” So I did. At the very top - in bold letters, mind you - was the advice to, “Remember to turn the switch on, before mounting the light.” Really? So I pealed off the two deck rail lights, pulling some of the stain off the rails in the process. Holy cats! There really WAS a switch, underneath each. Same thing with the two I just set on the left side of two steps going up to the deck, which were only partially exposed to the sun. I’m not sure why any of them need a switch, but that probably has little relevance in this story. Went outside that third night, with the results you can see in the picture, below. So why did I tease you with an “explanation to come?” Here’s the answer. Yeah, I got these 4 lights at no charge, in return for a review. But, seeing how good they are, I am compelled to BUY, with my own money, another pack or two to enhance the beautiful effect on the deck at night, and the safety on the steps! Joking aside, they are just beautiful, shed great light, give your deck - or whatever - atmosphere, and do so at what I would consider a very reasonable price. If you have similar goals for your deck, fence, yard, walkway, etc., just go for it. They’re really nice. Thanks to INCX for letting me try them out. Russ
These great little led lights have these really thin led strip lights inside which look like lightening strikes. The intensity of the light is super strong as it illuminates everything within 1 foot around it! The ON / OFF button is hidden inside a pin hole so they are really nice and difficult to turn on and off without breaking the button inside. The battery life on these lamps last a full 4 hours after charging in the sun for twelve hours. After one week, one of the lights doesn’t turn on anymore. A 2nd light won’t turn on at all because the pinhole switch broke. The third light only stays on for about 20 minutes. But the one last light still works which is great! Oh and the size is nice and small so it is easy to hide the light. If you are looking for a very low intensity led solar light that works for 1 or 2 weeks, these are the best option for you!
These lights are amazing! They are easy to install a Nd provide excellent lighting. I have bought 3 now to install on 3 corners of my house. They activate with motion control and never run out of charge, at least not for as long as we have had them. Great functionality!
Just what we were looking for! The warm white is perfect . Day one, couldn’t ask for anything, we’ll see as time goes on.
The design is OK, but it is definitely not waterproof. You could see by the pictures. There’s no gasketing whatsoever. Everything is just open. The close-up picture shows between the light panels and the unit are no seals whatsoever. I would not even trust it just sitting out in the weather. Up under an eve, maybe. We’ll see how well it works charged up, but is definitely not waterproof. I might be able to run a bead around the solar panel on the top and snap it back in place so at least it keeps the water from getting in from the top. We’ll see. Just an addendum. Looking at the picture of the box. There is no way this has a waterproof rating of IP 67. Also it states it’s got aluminum alloy body. It does not it is purely a resin plastic throughout even the bracketing is plastic. It has a single battery , says quality batteries. There are not “batteries” it’s got single one , you can see by the picture. I have to call this misleading in my mind .
We got these for the steps at our cabin. We find they last about three years in heavy weather conditions before needing to be replaced because of wear and tear. We get over 8 feet of snow, and sometimes the steps get shoveled and sometimes they don’t. If they can soak in enough sunlight through the snow, they will still light up at night under the snow. I’ve hit several with the snow shovel, and broken a couple of lenses but the lights still work. These are worth it to be able to use the outside steps at night, as we are off grid with no power otherwise. I do replace the batteries, but sometimes the newer lights have a better light. Pictures are the steps being made and after the lights are installed
These lights seem to be good. I let them charge in the sun fo several hours and when night came all the lights except one worked. The one was very dim then it completely died. Not sure if it has a defective battery or if it’s some else. Just bought them so hopefully the company will send a replacement unit. Will wait and see if they respond.
Lights are so bright. They can also be dimmer. But they last awhile, the sensors also work amazing, so they start to dim after awhile of not sensing motion. But once they sense small amount of motion light right back up! They’re Amazing. No flickering. Had them for a few months now, they have lasted. 100% recommend these!
Solar lighting is always a crap shoot (pardon my French), but every few years I decide to give it a go, again. The reviews on these ILANCK Solar Pathway Lights were compelling, so I bought the 8-pack. Best garden solar lighting I've ever had! It's only been a week since I installed them, so the jury is out re: their long term durability, but given their obvious quality (i.e. mostly glass and metal), I'm optimistic and hoping for a year or three of perfect lighting. The very first night a neighbor approached me to say how much they enjoyed our new garden lighting. First time we met. We're on a bit of a "grassy knoll," visible to many neighbors. CLASSY!! I tried to grab a few night photos but they just don't do these lights justice. That said, here are a few day photos showing where they were installed Not extra bright, but just enough to get the job done, defining our garden and walkway areas. And installation took about 10 minutes. All you really need is a hammer (rubber mallet preferred). Definitely a 5-star product so far!!! Update 5/7/24: Still working great. Time will tell!
These path lights came well packaged without any damage in shipping and were very easy to assemble. The design of these are relevant and sleek without dominating the space and the solar panels on top do a great job of charging and, as you can see in the photos, light up the path without being overwhelming.
Good idea, but poorly constructed. The solar cell on one fell off just removing it from the shipping box. The simple gob of adhesive meant to hold the cell was clearly the wrong choice and clearly not applied with a mind toward properly waterproofing and protecting the internal components. I see little hope that these lights will last a year, but I like the simplicity and the idea. They are simply not worth a nickel if they need repair immediately or replacing in a very short time.
I’ve had these lights for three years now and they’ve lasted amazingly through all the bad weather in Chicago and are still working brightly! I’ve had other sets of lights that only lasted one season! so these guys here get five stars for sure! 👍
While they do light an area that is blocked from my other outdoor flood lights, there is still a shadow of the objects showing up. You also have to be very close (5-8 ft w/new battery) to the lights for the remote to work, so don't mount them too high. The motion detection logic seemed to work fine. UPDATE: Installed these 5/28/24, update 6/9/24 I've dropped my rating as the remote range was limited when installed and now neither light will respond to either remote... completely unresponsive. Mode 1 is what it appears to be using and I can't change it. The lights are still as bright as when installed, so there appears to be adequate power being supplied to the lights and remote receiver from the solar panel/batteries. The motion detection range is only 50% of what it was and also has developed blind spots. When taking my dogs to their kennel tonight, the lights didn't come on when I walked past them going away toward the kennel. On the return to my house, I may have been 10 ft away when one turned on and I had to wave my arms to get the other one on. For comparison, I have a ceiling mounted motion light in my car port and it picked me up at 3x the distance as soon as I stepped out on my patio.
We decided to use these as landscape lights. Charges well and lights bushes and trees up nicely. The light does shift from normal to "brights" when they sense motion, but we consider that an added security feature.
Worked fine for 3 days then one of them started to change modes by itself then by weeks end, it died
