The manual says “it is forbidden to install the solar panel in the shade of buildings or trees.” I’m going to guess “forbidden” means, “not advised.” The panels of these lights are made of glass, which I like quite a lot. It gives them heft. There are 6 hollow tubes inside the box, but no obvious spikes. Fiddle with a tube for a few moments and you’ll realize that the spikes are inside the tubes. The spikes best fit into the tube in the side in which they came. The other side of the tube fits into the bottom of the lights. Despite there being a little, square-ish design inside each of the lights, which makes you think the tube will snap in to it, it doesn’t. The tubes fit into the bottom of the lights by force. Just like the spikes. Then, there’s the instruction: ‘Turn the switch at the bottom of the light from “OFF” TO “FADE” or “ON.”’ I do not know what that means or how it affects the function of the lights. But never mind that, I couldn’t find any switch anywhere on the lamp. I started twisting and turning it, almost until I thought I’d break it. But instead, the glass part of the lamp came loose from the solar panel top. Inside the top/lid of the lamp, there is a little switch which toggles between “ON,” “OFF,” and “FADE.” What these choices mean, I will discover after the solar panels charge. (There’s a film over the solar panel on top of the lights, which seems to me should be removed, but there’s no mention of it in the instructions. I have removed them.) After one day of charging the solar panels — when the sun was out, but weak — the lamps did light, but their light was feeble. (The phone I used to take the photos compensated for the lights’ dimness, so the pics look way brighter than the lamps actually were.) So I moved them to an area where I know the sun will shine brightly on them all day, assuming the sun shines. However, when you move the lamps to another location, the spikes will remain buried in the dirt. It happened to me with 5 out of the 6 spikes. Because they don’t fit tightly into the tubes, and because I buried the spikes fairly well into the ground, it was very difficult to dig them up and insert them back into the tube. “FADE” means the multi-color lights will fade in and out. “ON” is white light.

These solar lights are very good. The quality appears to be good, and they can be mounted on a wall or any hard surface in addition to the stakes into the ground. I was contemplating running wire for a powered spotlight, but the logistics gave me a headache considering the best way to do it. My thought was to hook it in to my IoT stuff and be able to control/schedule it. In the end, it wasn't worth the effort if there was a good solar alternative. How long would the lights be able to stay on was my primary concern. I was extremely happy when this light went all night on low power. I didn't even try the high setting, as the low setting gives just the right amount of light. On top of that, the light was on the entire prior night, yesterday was overcast all day long, and the light still stayed on through the night. I like the ability to change the battery in the future. If the solar panels last, that will make these absolutely perfect. I'm happy I took the 4-pack, as I can find other places to use them and have spares. I will definitely buy more when the need arises. I highly recommend this light. Pictures are at night, and then the following morning just prior to turning off.

Bought two of these sturdy well built bright colorful butterflies for my front yard. They are a great addition to my front yard and really brighten up my yard at night. Love em!

I bought these hoping to use them on my boat dock. They do work ok but last only about 6 hours, not until daybreak by no means (7PM to 1 AM). I wanted them to last until 7 AM the next day. This isn't even winter yet, so the amount of sunlight will be shorter and less and the nights will be longer then. I estimate they will last only about 4 hours at best, running from 6PM to 10 PM. Sunrise will be about 8AM by late December. So, I looked for a solution. The included AA size battery is a generic brand 600 mAh NI-MH rechargable type. Now 600 mAh is very small for this type. Most Energizers are 2000 mAh and Duracells are 2500 mAh. I tested the included battery and the result was not good. It tested at only about 240 mAh capacity and even that was giving it very generous usable voltage limits. I tested a Duracwell 2500 mAh version and it did perform at that rated capacity. So that Duracell battery has 10 times the capacity as the poor one that came with the light. I installed the Duracell battery into the light and it did last all night over a period of one week. So the result is that you can make this light set perform at it's best by changing the batteries to better ones. The Duracell batteries I used cost about $3.25 each. It is not necessary to purchase the Duracell charger, they come already charged. Energizer Ni-Mh AA should perform about as well. https://www.npcpsolar.com.com/Duracell-Rechargeable-AA-Batteries-Count/dp/B00007ISWA?th=1

I was skeptical that these lights would be both a true warm white, and as bright as claims and pictures from other reviewers. But these lights surprised me; they are much larger than expected and thus, are a tad bit of an eyesore (as they're plastic and the light face and solar panels are very large for a spotlight.). But they are indeed bright and last much longer than any other all-solar light I have tried, and they seem to shine much farther as well. I can point them upwards in the direction of a 25-35 foot tree and light it from root to tips. PROS 1) well made, strong stakes 2) huge solar panel takes in a lot of energy and light bulb panel is wide and big 3) very bright light 4) warmer white light, not blue or bright white 5) do not flicker at all & stay lit for at least 6-7 hours, even with minimal sunlight (rainy mornings and a few hours of sun and they still come on and stay lit like clockwork. CONS: 1) they are not a true 2500 ultra warm or even incandescent or 3200 neutral warm. I would consider these closer to a 3500 nuetral or even cool warm white. They have sort of a greenish hue instead of the orange-ish hue that one expects from a true warm white. They're not soft white though, and may show as a true 3000 warm on a red brick or natural stone house - anything other than siding, or any type of rock hardscsping or shrubbery you are trying to light up may actually be really ideal for these lights. But my home is an ivory/cream colored siding and these lights reflect a yellow green hue that isn't the most attractive to me. 2) the range of motion while on the stakes is not as forgiving as most spotlights. There is a great range up and down and there are tension knobs on both the light lens and the solar panel, but you cannot twist the light right or left to angle it. But if you pull out the stake and readjust it solves that problem. If you are mounting this with screws to something, you might have difficulty getting it positioned the way you want. For the price these lights are great for not needing any wires or electricity, and they stay plenty bright from dusk until about 1-2am... so I can't complain. Highly recommend these for those wanting to spotlight directly on brick or stone homes, or anyone wanting to light up dark yard or pool areas, trees, shrubs, plant or rock gardens, ponds, etc. Note, I purchased these lights from another seller whose listing stated that the lights were warm white. They were Innotek brand, which I am familiar with in other products. The Innotek brand lights did not give off the green hue that these do, so now I am going to order more of the other brand as the light is definitely warm white and not this yellow-green color. Oddly, I ordered 8 of this lights (two boxes of 2 each) and they're not all the same color. Some (6) are this yellow green color, and 2 of them are an actual warm white. I feel as if there has been some kind of manufacturing change or something and some boxes have this yellow green colored light. You can actually see the yellow green hue on the light face before even turning it on. This is a bit aggravating for folks like me who purchased several sets to light up the front of their home and yard/landscaping. I already threw out the boxes so I ended up putting the 6 green yellow lights on the side and back of my house and ordered 4 more of the Innotek brand so i would be sure the front of my house was lit in warm white. I will say that they Innotek brand is not as bright and does not stay lit as long as this brand. They stay lit for well over 7-8 hours each night and they are much brighter than other brands. They're not LED flashlight bright, but who wants that on their home and front yard anyway. If you're looking for a flood light type spotlight, this isn't it.

These lights cast PLENTY of light for our application! Enough to delete my power-hungry floodlight. I cut the plug off and stripped back the wire and jointed it directly to the wires in the box for my floodlight and applied silicone to keep the box waterproof. This way I can utilize my existing light switch. I ran 50 feet of cheap paracord from Walmart to lay out how I want the lights and they hold perfectly with ZERO SAGGING. I used (3) 8ft sticks of 1.5” x 1.5” from Lowes as supports to frame out the cord. My initial worry was I needed to run a steel cable and adjustable anchors to keep my runs tight, but these lights are incredibly lightweight even bunched together in the packaging. The spacing between bulbs is just right to eliminate any dark spots and further distribute their own weight when installed. The bulbs have very simple design and admirable! I have light sensitive eyes at night and the 2,200K rating gives me no issues at all. They’re very comforting and enjoyable!

These lights add such a mood to your yard. If you want to allocate your yard, get these!! It took my husband about 30 min or less to install all 16 lights. Super easy!! These had a charge right out of the box. We have one of the ugliest yards ever, but these lights classed it up. As expensive as it can be to make yard updates, this is one of the most affordable things you can add to your yard to make a pretty impactful look! The only minor minus is they have to be manually set on each light. There is not a remote or app to control these, but there are two easy buttons to get them set and was no biggie.

Excellent so far. The pics show the lights at 60% brightness. Installation was pretty straight forward (used a shopping bag to assist in the one person installation). I have not had the opportunity to test the motion sensor. My only beef is that there are no more of this model available from the seller. Let me know when more are available as I need to get at least 8 more for my application.

These look great and work great as well. We have them in direct sunlight on our front walk and I know they stay lit for at least six hours after sunset and likely longer. I just do not stay up that late to see them. They have a very nice warm glow which lights up our pathway well but is not blindingly bright. They feel to be built well and feel sturdy during install.

3rd update: these lights had been lasting from 1.5-2 years before they fail by not illuminating or being very dim. Replacement of the LEDs with some 1w replacements along with cleaning the battery terminals and applying terminal grease does the trick. This is an updated review after owning these lights for 3 years and having them on Trex Fire Pit (brownish) color endposts. These lights are great but will fade from Brown to Black due to UV exposure and eventually will stop working after 3 years. The batteries are regular AA rechargable that were refreshed with a computerized battery charging unit once a year. You could replace the batteries that came with it with some higher quality ones and prob get more battery life and light out them. In order to install them on the Trex post caps and make them removeable without damage use a hot glue gun and some metal covered wire. The lights come with two different sized end caps 4x4 and 6x6. The bigger 6x6 ones will work perfect for the top end cap. Add some hot glue to the corner, push the black mounting frame onto the cap and add some more hot glue. The glue will not discolor the caps and is removeable. Lights look stock when installed this way. Good luck.

I love these lanterns! They are smaller than I expected but very bright. Even in low sunlight, they stay lit very nearly the entire evening. Great purchase, worth the price! UPDATE - I purchased a set of TomCare Solar Lanterns for my backyard a year ago, and I was so smitten with them that I recently bought another set to add to the ambiance of my outdoor space. These lanterns are nothing short of spectacular – they look like real flames, are incredibly durable, and have become a conversation piece, earning me numerous compliments. #TomCare #SolarLanterns #OutdoorLighting #Ambiance #DurableDesign What I adore most about these lanterns is the mesmerizing, flickering flame effect they create. It's like having real flames dancing in my backyard, adding a touch of magic to the space. These lanterns set the perfect mood for a quiet evening alone or a gathering with friends. White yellows and look terrible. We bought 16 of thin 2020 only to have them yellow within months. We looked for white ones that don’t fade but haven’t found any. They work great but look gross. I got copper ones which will also fade but at least the contrast won’t look gross. Don’t buy the white.

This review is for the Home Zone Mesh Linkable Series 4-Pack Solar SMD LED Security Wall Pack Light, 800LM, Auto-Linking, 120°x26 ft Motion Detection, 3000L Warm White, 800 Lumens, Customizable 4-Channel Settings, Black. I needed something to be able to better see what my medium sized dog is up to in the yard at night. Although these lights have plastic housing, it feels sturdy to me. I like the option to have some or all the lights linked to go on at the same time when 1 motion is triggered. We tried it briefly and it worked OK, but decided we didn't want any of the lights linked. PROS * rechargeable battery is removable and replaceable with a 3.7v18650 1500mAh lithium battery. * auto dusk to dawn * low brightness is sufficient for our needs * included mounting screws and plastic anchors * held charge for weeks (I fully charged the units, then put them back in the box til we decided where to place them. I thought they'd have to be recharged before they'd work again, but they did not.) CONS * can't turn motion off and just run the light on low * can't adjust the brightness so when motion turns on it's not so bright * too bright for our needs when motion detected (If you sit out at night or have a pool or hot tub, it's in your face bright and we have a decent sized back yard.) MEASUREMENTS * back - 7 1/8in long x 4in wide * sticks out from wall about 2.5in plus another 1/2in if you include the motion detector * solar panel area 5.5in x 2.5in I think for the current $51 price they are good. I just wish the motion could be turned off and/or there were low/medium/high brightness settings.

The solar panel/battery slips into the top – best to face the sky/sun. The stand screws into the base. Caution: The "antique copper" cone is plastic so do not use it to press down to push into the ground. The stand is metal and has an "h" shape so that you can use your foot to press it into the ground. The cone is full of stencil patterns and has a beautiful, antiquing finish on the plastic. They are attractive both during the day and at night as they cast their silhouette shadows on the ground/sidewalk. The control is a simple ON/OFF and it must be ON for the battery to charge. You should charge it for 6+ hours in bright sunlight for the first time. Mine are in partial shade most of the day and they were able to charge nicely using partial sun and ambient light. They were on most of the night. INSTALLATION: Position the solar panels for best exposure to the sun. They will charge with ambient light but like with cloudy days and storms, the charging will take longer and perhaps be partial = less light duration at night. The solar panel is also the D2D (dusk to dawn) sensor – if you block it, the light will turn on (you can test the unit this way). Misc. Notes: It is not uncommon for lights of this type to come on at dusk at different times – variations in the light sensors. It is best to allow at least a few inches from the soil to avoid rain splashed mud from covering the solar panel which will reduce their effectiveness. The solar panels should be checked for leaves and dust occasionally and cleaned with a soft cloth. WATERPROOF: This is rated as "IP65 waterproof" on the product webpage. The units do not have a waterproof hallmark and the included pamphlet does not mention "IP65 waterproof". A rating of IP65 is common for these solar panel/battery outdoor lights. However, IP65 is water-resistant. Waterproof and water/weather-resistant are two very different ratings. IP65 is dust-tight (6) and water-resistant (5) which is good enough for rain, snow or sprinkler but not for high-pressure jets or submersion. To be waterproof, you need a combination IPx6/IPx8 rating.

I bought the kit with 2 lanterns and 8 side lights. I love them all except 1 of my lanterns will only light for about 3 hours and then stops! Big fail in my book! Why did I pay for 2 lanterns when only one will run through the darkness! Very disappointed because of one lantern!
