   I’m only getting 4-5 hours of light after sunset, which is easily enough time in the summer but I wish it was longer in the winter when the sun sets 3 hours earlier. The unit is completely sealed so you cannot change the battery to one with higher capacity. The on/off switch has a rubber or silicone weatherproofing boot over it to prevent water from getting in there. Double-sided tape is included to stick them to your steps. Unfortunately there are no holes to secure them better with screws to wood or composite deck steps.

   Solar lights for outdoor steps, what’s not to like. They don’t tend to last all night, but they adequately get thru the first several hours of darkness, which is enough for me.

   I’ve been wondering about getting some solar deck lights, both for atmosphere and safety. these INCX solar lights popped up on my list of npcpsolar.com Vine items. I assume that, by now, you know what that means. If not, just click the link above my review. I was pretty excited to get them. I’ll tell you about that except, for me, there is an amusing “but”. You’ll have to wait until the end of this 5 star review to learn about it. The lights shipped quickly in a surprisingly compact box. Unpacking them, I saw that they also came with appropriately sized screws to attach them to whatever you want to put them on – deck railings, steps, etc. Well, not knowing whether I’d like them, I cleverly (?) decided to use “nano tape” to attach two of the four to our deck railings without poking holes in order to “easily” remove them, and just set the other two on a couple of the steps leading up to the deck. I put them out on a blissfully sunny day, figuring that they should get a pretty good charge, and I’d get to see how they did by that night. Came dark, I looked out and . . . snake eyes! What the heck? Should it take several days to build up enough charge to work at night? Pretty disappointing, right? So I waited another day – not as sunny, but pretty bright. That night? Same thing! Well, I really hate writing bad reviews, but I pledged to write an honest review. Having earned my Eagle Scout badge some 60 years ago – yeah, I’m that old – I’m unwilling to do anything other than being honest here, or anywhere. That award is still meaningful to me, all these years later. But, before doing so, I decided to look at the directions. Remember the admonition, from years ago, to RTFM – AKA- read the *friendly* manual? Of course, I always felt, implied in that was, “only if you have no other alternative.” So I did. At the very top – in bold letters, mind you – was the advice to, “Remember to turn the switch on, before mounting the light.” Really? So I pealed off the two deck rail lights, pulling some of the stain off the rails in the process. Holy cats! There really WAS a switch, underneath each. Same thing with the two I just set on the left side of two steps going up to the deck, which were only partially exposed to the sun. I’m not sure why any of them need a switch, but that probably has little relevance in this story. Went outside that third night, with the results you can see in the picture, below. So why did I tease you with an “explanation to come?” Here’s the answer. Yeah, I got these 4 lights at no charge, in return for a review. But, seeing how good they are, I am compelled to BUY, with my own money, another pack or two to enhance the beautiful effect on the deck at night, and the safety on the steps! Joking aside, they are just beautiful, shed great light, give your deck – or whatever – atmosphere, and do so at what I would consider a very reasonable price. If you have similar goals for your deck, fence, yard, walkway, etc., just go for it. They’re really nice. Thanks to INCX for letting me try them out. Russ

   I’ve been using these for a few weeks now and they are good quality. The warm light goes with the rest of our landscape lights and they stay tucked into the corners of the stairs pretty well without needing the adhesive provided. We are in SoCal, so lots of sun to charge them up during the day. They last several hours (5-6) into the night on a good charge. I was going to order another set of four to have one on each end of the stairs for visibility and balance, but there is enough light from a single set to cover our needs. I hope this helps!

   These solar stair lights work well and the brightness matches the product page pictures.

   They were easy to install and all 4 worked immediately with minimal sun. The lights provide good illumination even on dark colored step when placed up to 4 feet apart. The lights even worked on days we had no sun, so they are definitely a good value for the money.
