   Setup was fast and easy. I just put the two pieces together and put them outside. However, I haven’t seen them light up yet. I assumed they would need to charge in the sun first, but it has been a week. I don’t know if they aren’t in enough sunlight or what. I was happy with how many lights came in one order. It was enough for my whole, albeit small, backyard.

   I’ve got to confess that solar outdoor lights seem to last for about 6 months to a year and then die. The weather conditions eventually weaken them. Or they age.

   So far though, these lights are starting out strong. They’re easy enough to set up and turn on. They are responsive enough to the lighting to dim. They seem to hold enough of a charge to get through most of the night. I like that they’re light weight so I can remove them before mowing. Crossing my fingers.

   [UPDATED] After I posted this, my wife pointed out that our neighbors have walkway lights that *are* shining, yet it’s winter over their yard too. I did a couple more tests, moving some of these lamps into more direct sunlight and checking them at the same time as our neighbor’s lights. Theirs work. Ours don’t. So, it’s not because of winter. They simply don’t work. Sometimes you see something and think “that would be nice to have” and make an impulsive decision. In general though, it’s good to pause and to ask “but would it be nice to have NOW?” I ordered these lawn lights because they look modern and I think they’d be nice to illuminate the walk and steps to our front door. But what I didn’t consider is that it’s early February, the middle of winter, there’s virtually no sunlight during the day and the ground is frozen solid. More on this later. Although the listing claims that written instructions are included, I couldn’t find any in the box. However, before I reached for my phone to dig up the installation video, I examined the pieces for about 5 seconds and figured out how they go together. So that wasn’t much of a problem. The small box has two types of individually wrapped pieces, 12 hollow rods and 12 lights. The hollow rods have a plastic insert at one end; you’re supposed to take it out, flip it, and then hold the narrowed end that was inside to push the plastic stake into the rod, as the pictures show. Takes about 10 seconds per piece. Picture shows what I mean. Because I foolishly bought these in winter and the ground outside is frozen, the plastic spike won’t penetrate and would break if I tried. However I stuck a few into the snow, to see how well they can pick up light during the dim winter days. For the most part, the answer is they don’t. At all. But given how little direct sunlight they’re getting, it’s not a fair test! I will update this review in a few months, when they can receive enough sunlight for a fair test, and report how long they stay lit and whether they all work properly. Aside from that, they seem well constructed and are easy to assemble. Looking forward to lining my walk with the set once the ground thaws. [UPDATE: No, I don’t.]

   These path lights came well packaged without any damage in shipping and were very easy to assemble. The design of these are relevant and sleek without dominating the space and the solar panels on top do a great job of charging and, as you can see in the photos, light up the path without being overwhelming.

   This package of a dozen outdoor lights adds some flair to my backyard. I tried to put them into the ground around my garden in early March, but the ground was still frozen and the sticks would not go far enough into the soil. By late March they were fine and I’m looking forward to seeing them light up every night as the sun goes down. They line the path around the garden very nicely and provide an attractive and uniformed lighting system with no wires or hassle.
