We have several solar lanterns and enjoy them. We also enjoy gifting them. This set of 4 is not good. Our two main complaints: dim light & bad packaging. The light is way too dim, even after two days of charging in full sun. We think they sent us lanterns with batteries that were already depleted. Now we will need to disassemble the battery box, replace the rechargeable battery, and see if that improves the level of illumination.
These lanterns are large. They are double the size of most decorative ones. So it may be that they simply did not use a bulb that is large enough for the lantern. During the daytime, the lanterns look attractive.
The packaging on this was terrible, and there are zero instructions. Would be completely inappropriate for gifting. We knew to open the metal tabs, remove the panel on top, and switch on to charge up before using, but there were no instructions that would direct a new user on what to do.
