   While this string of eaves lights are slightly different in some respects than the set of lights I already had from a different brand, they DO match almost exactly the color, brightness, and functions of that other set. The other brand was no longer available which is why I was trying to find something to match and I needed another 100 ft to wrap around the north side and east sides of the house. One other set I had ordered did not match either color or functions of my current set so they are going up on the detached garage. Now if you are like me, you will not be able to really tell the difference between the two sets, but up close is where you can really begin to see how they differ. This set from EcoMyLife have an extra side mount capability with a clear plastic appendage to the base that creates a 90 degree angle so that the lights have multiple ways to be mounted and it occurs to me that they could then be mounted to point AT the wall instead of down the wall. Interesting. Another difference is that instead of the standard 16″ distance between lights, these actually measure 20″ (roof rafters can range from 12 to 24 inches, with 16 inches being the standard). Also included in the hardware package are many clear little clips with screw holes that could be used to tidy up any hanging wire? I dunno yet, but they look like they could be very handy. It seems like they only supplied enough small screws to maybe get only one in each light and if you are like me, you might have to find a suitable match so you can get two screws in each light and one in each clip (maybe around 200 total). I would never trust adhesives to last, so screws are the way to go. I won’t actually be able to get these up until I get a taller ladder than my 12 footer and even then I may wait for a younger body to assist me. They also supply adhesives already on the back of each LED and an additional 66 adhesive strips. Maybe those are intended to be used on the clear side mounting plate? There is also an additional 10 ft extension wire if you should need it. Cool. Finally there is the remote. I probably will never use it, but it will get labeled and put into the big box where about 50 other remotes live for various things around my house. Thankfully these EcoMyLife lights are controlled via the Surplife app which I already had for use on a few other light systems so adding them was easy and pretty much automatic. Controlling them from the app will be easy also because I am already familiar with the app. It’s a decent app. Then I will also set them to turn on and off with all the other outdoors light sets using the Alexa app functions. Finally the instruction manual while decent is not extensive but covers enough to get you started. It will be easy to recommend these to anyone.

   These are interesting, and they have their pros and cons. The biggest pro is that they are powered by a solar panel. This seems rare to me. This product category seems to be getting very full of imitators, and many have no advantage over others. The solar panel on this one definitly makes it stand out. Otherwise these are fine. Nothing special. Cons (compared to the much more expensive versions), no app control, you are limited to the patterns and colors that are programmed into the remote. Lots of options, but definitly limited options. The colors are nice and crisp, but for a small number of colors. They have a more ridged mounting bracket built into each light, this is great if it works for your install, but a waste if it doesn’t. These are also not very bright (compared to the plugged in versions). Overall if you don’t have access to power then these are a good choice since they are solar powered.

   Got these up along the back wall, and the results have been properly satisfying. They’ve handled rain, wind and the odd cold snap without issue, and the colour options are well beyond what I expected. Set a few different moods just by tapping around in the app, which makes everything feel a bit more personal. The colour shifts are smooth, and the brightness range works well whether I want a bit of glow or something more noticeable. Set-up was straightforward too — once up, they just stayed there doing their job. Been through a few stormy nights and they didn’t budge or dim.

   We love these lights. They were very easy to install, color options are endless, easily change the patterns with a remote control. We use them daily changing the light functionality to the season. We will be ordering more to add to this set.
